Homemade lace .....

Good afternoon .......

Have you ever made lace?  My Grandma used to make lace and it was stunning!  All those gorgeous wooden bobbins with the bright sparkly beads on the ends.  Those super fine threads being woven together to make something so delicate and beautiful.  She can't make it anymore ... the board is too heavy, her eyesight no longer good enough and her fingers just don't want to co-operate as much.  But she is 85! so I think she has done well.

Well I can't make lace ... but I can stamp it!  For this card I wanted to use lace but every time I put a piece on there it just didn't look right.  So instead I stamped it on!  I used a stamp set from Kaisercraft called Tea at Elsie's.  I also stamped the 'doily' stamp all over my white doily to make it look a little lacier.

Here is the completed card .........

Here is a close up of the image I used the following copic markers:-
R81, R83, R85 (pink areas)          BG93, BG96 (wings)             E71, E74, E77 (ruffles on dress)          E000, E00, R20 (skin)    E31, E33, E35 (hair)  and for a bit of bling I used some gold icestickles (glitter glue) on her wings

I have used some gorgeous papers that were sent to me all the way from America!  from my lovely craft friend Shirley ... from Simply Stamping With Shirl.

Here is one of the white doilys just to show you before and after.

Talking about Grandma .... now that she is in a nursing home she doesn't really have much room for all of her craft bits and pieces.  I store a lot of it here for her ... and some things that she just wouldn't use any more so I have kept them for myself.  One of the things I really love is a big old Cadbury Roses chocolate tin full of buttons.  I dug through it today and found these three little beauties!  I stuck them down with glossy accents ... that way they managed to stay upright.  I was going to try and cut the loopy bit from underneath ... but I quite like the look it give.  I also managed to thread a small piece of cotton through the loop to attach the charm!.

Anyway ... the little one is awake and now going through my craft stash ... pulling everything out saying "I love that Mummy"  "I need that Mummy" .... so I will get going :)

Thanks for stopping by and hopefully I will see you back here tonight with another project.

Big colourful hugs
xoxoxoxo Carly
