Summer Fun ... at Whimsy

Hello :)  Is the sun shining where you are?  Here in Victoria Australia it is cold, wet and windy.  The middle of winter is like that sometimes .....

So what better way to beat the cold than to think of some summer fun and that is exactly what we are challenging you to do over at the Whimsy Blog this week.

I have used this fun new image called Marie that you can find in the store here.

I coloured Marie with copic markers and used some glossy accents on her glasses and beach ball.  The papers are from Kaisercraft Offshore Collection.  Those waves were just perfect for this card.  The orange made me think of a sunset ... hence my little tag up the top ... representing the sun.  That is what I see anyway :)

Be sure to check out the gorgeous DT projects over at the Whimsy Inspires Blog and I would love to see your Summer Fun project too!  As always there is a fabulous prize up for grabs.

I must also admit that whilst making this card I kept thinking of the movie Grease and I was singing Summer Lovin ..... LOL!  Bet you are glad you couldn't hear me .. because I really can't sing.

Splash Me!

Hi there.  Over at Crafting For All Seasons this week our current challenge is

Splash Me!

We are being sponsored by

Be sure to head on over to the CFAS blog to check out the gorgeous projects.

For my card I have used this lovely image from the Stamping Boutique called Vintage Tub.

I coloured the image using copic markers.  I paper pieced the legs of the tub and then applied gold glitter glue (Faber Castell) on the legs and the tap.  The bubbles I have used a gorgeous blue glitter glue (Bic Kids).

I attached the tub using double sided foam to give the card some depth.  The borders are cut using a Spellbinders die.  Papers are from Kaisercraft Offshore Collection.

I thought these were the essential components (other than lovely hot water in a gorgeous tub) for a truly blissful bath.

I'm looking forward to seeing your project over on the CFAS blog ... and as always there will be some lovely prizes up for grabs.

Big hugs ....
Carly

Creative Craft Challenges - Summer Fun Challenge

ooohhh I love Unicorns!  Hi there ... I'm super excited to show you this card.  I have been desiring this unicorn image from Bugaboo for a while now and yipppeeeee because they are kindly sponsoring us over at Creative Craft Challenges I got to use it!

I had so much fun colouring this gorgeous image in.  I used a range of pastel shades from my Copic Marker collection and just kept blending until I was happy.  I then went over the mane, tail, horn and hooves with some glitter glue.  I was really happy with how she turned out.

The colour choices give me a summery feel ... I used some papers from Kaisercraft and the die I used is Macarena Corner from Memory Box.

Be sure to check out the gorgeous Summer Fun projects over at Creative Craft Challenges.

Well I'm off to put on another jumper because it is actually the middle of winter here and I'm cold :)

Aliens for a 3rd Birthday

Hello .... I just wanted to share with you the photo of the cake I made for Madalyn's 3rd Birthday Party.  Well actually I made two cakes ... one for her party and one for her Birthday a few days later.

Having a little girl I thought for sure that I would get to make a cute mushroom house cake or perhaps a castle .... or even something to do with flowers.  But no .. when looking through the cake decorating books she selected an alien!

So here it is
It was a lot of fun to make ... and Madalyn had chosen a Purple and Green theme for her party.  By that I mean when we went out to buy plastic plates and cups she wanted purple and green ones ... so hence we had a theme.

She absolutely loved everyone singing Happy Birthday to her.  This is her Dad (Steve) holding her up to blow out the candle.
Then of course for her actual Birthday she wanted another Alien cake ... I got home really late so it was a rush.  Managed to whip this up from scratch in an hour though so I was pretty happy.  Luckily I still had some icing left over.  The cake I baked this time was a really simple sponge.
I think though that this alien is kind of scary ... probably because of those red and black eyes.  But it tasted delicious.

I can't believe my little girl is 3!  Time really does fly and I cherish every moment.

Madalyn's 3rd Birthday Card

Hello there.  Its been a huge week for us.  Madalyn celebrated her 3rd Birthday on Monday, oh how the time flies!  We had a little party for her on Saturday ... lots of sweet food and a yummy cake.

This week over at Whimsy we are challenging you to use Punches and Edgers.  So be sure to check out the gorgeous creations from the Design Team.

I have used this gorgeous personalised bear stamp from StampArt Design, Kathryne very kindly personalised the balloon and the number on the cake.  What a perfect image for my little girl.

I have coloured the image using Copic markers
the edge die is from Memory Box - Cherish Border
Ribbon from my stash ($2 shop)
and some glitter glue.

I hope to be back later with some Birthday photos .. I attempted an alien cake (as requested by Madalyn).

I had also coloured Lil Christmas Lolita Evie to put on this card .. but I just couldn't make her work .. I think she was just a little bit to large.  So I will save her for another day, I'm sure it won't be long before she finds herself on a project.

And one last bit of colour for you today .... this is the view from our front porch.  I took this photo this morning ... sensational colours! I wish I could include the sounds of all the screeching Cockatoos!

Lets catch up over coffee ....... its been so long ....

Hello there!  Remember me?  Yes I know ... where have I been ..... well moving house is much more involved that I remember!  After spending almost 10 years in one place you certainly accumulate a LOT! and of course now we have a child as well ..... you get the picture.

I have been missing my crafting and card making SO MUCH! ..... and at the moment I'm getting some boxes unpacked so I can get some craft done.  Madalyn's 3rd Birthday is on Monday 16th! and I haven't even made her a card yet!

But I was talking about coffee wasn't I.  How many of you love your coffee?  I know I do.  I have 2-3 cups a day and to be honest I feel like my day hasn't had a good start until I've had my coffee.  (I'm totally addicted to tea brewed in my teapot too!)

At the moment I'm thoroughly enjoying a gorgeous range of coffees from Nescafe.  They have a range of little sachets called Nescafe Cafe Menu and they are totally delicious.

I'm part of a Word Of Mouth Marketing group called SOUP (thesoup.com.au) .  You can apply to trial products .. and I was lucky enough to be accepted to trial Nescafe coffee!  I was sent some boxes to sample and share with friends.

They come in gorgeous flavours like Mocha, Caramel Latte, Cappuccino and MORE! but my absolute favourite is Hazelnut Latte .... mmmmmm YUM!

If you have tried this delicious range of coffee then jump onto www.soupsurveys.com/nescafecafemenu and enter a competition to win a $150 pampering giftcard ... so make sure you do that ..... who wouldn't love to be pampered!

I am also hoping to get the opportunity to host my own little competition right here on my blog ..... that will be sponsored by Nescafe and Soup .... so make sure you leave a comment  ... it could be about what sort of coffee you like, do you drink coffee when you are crafting ... or anything coffee related.  Up for grabs will be a fabulous prize .... maybe a Westfield Voucher or perhaps a gift certificate to spend at your local craft store!

Here the delicious flavours I have tried ... mmm yum!

So until next time .... enjoy your coffee and your crafting ....... and I look forward to being back soon.

xoxoxo Carly

PS .... I also wanted to share a little tip with you so that you can indulge in a delicious slice of cake with your coffee.  When you are baking a cake ..  substitute 1/4 of the sugar with the same quantity of non fat milk powder!
