Make It Crafty - #28 Colouring Dark Skin Challenge

Good evening .... well our internet has run out again ... so at the wonderful truly slower than slow slower than dial up speed ... sloooooowwwwwwwwwww :(

It makes it terribly hard to put anything on my blog ... let alone check anyone else's out ... so sad!

I have recently discovered Make It Crafty .... you should head over there ... gorgeous stamps!

The challenge this week is colouring dark skin .... well I didn't know where to start and as I said can't really go looking for info with this super slow internet so I decided to wing it (pardon the pun).  If you are a follower of my blog you will know that I'm only new to colouring .. and to be honest I don't even think I have worked out how to colour light skin so this was a big challenge.

So I will show you my images and then tell you what I used.

I love this stamp!  She is a brand new one for me .... purchased my first digis from Make It Crafty just the other day ... and this is the first one I have coloured her name is Vixie (what a great name).
The first image I coloured was the red one.  I did the skin first .. I usually leave it until last.  I used a base of E21 then highlighted with E11 & E33 and R02.  I was happy with the colours straight away!
I could see from my Hand Colour Chart that I keep that I wasn't really going to have any other darker colours in the E family that were going to blend well for skin ... I must get some more!

I even managed to keep the eyelids lighter ... nope it was no accident!  I tried really hard to do that as I thought it was important.

I was a bit messy with my colouring though .. I always find that red goes out the lines (must be because it goes faster) so I cut this image out and then I wanted to see if I could do it again so I did the blue haired Vixie ... much neater colouring and once again I really like the skin!
Copics used for red haired Vixie :-
Skin - E11, E21, E33 and R02 for cheeks
Dress & Hair - R32, R35, R37
Wings - B00, B02, B05 & Y02, Y06, Y08
I used a clear spica (glitter) pen on the wings although I don't think it needed it.
To be honest the image looks much better in real life.  I'm totally happy with the shading i got on her wings ... they really pop out!
I used all the same colours for this image as what is listed above .. just in different places. I didn't put spica pen on these wings as I was happy with the way they were ... they look amazing in real life.

I'm not going to make them into a card ... these are going in a scrapbook (which I have not yet started) of my daughter.

I think this is probably my best colouring to date ......  its so nice to be happy with something.

Enjoy checking out the other great entries .. It has taken me 1 hour to get these photos onto the page (stupid internet!) so thats it from me tonight.

Happy crafting .. and thankyou for your lovely comments.

A sweet little donkey ......

Good evening ... yep burning the candle at both ends again ......

I just wanted to get this card put together.  It didn't take me long to colour this gorgeous little Donkey from Meljen's Designs / Whimsy Stamps.  I have coloured this image once before, in purple, and absolutely adore his sweet little face.

I coloured him using Copics :-
B93, 95, 97 and C000, 01, 03

Putting the card together was once again the challenge for me .... what to use ... where to put it .....arrrggghhh the possibilities!

So in the end I used a plain cream cardstock for my base card, cut a little frame from some blue bazzill and then used some papers that I have in my stash.  The papers are all similar colours so I was happy there.  I think they are from Kasazz.

I attached two pieces of ribbon ... alovely baby blue ribbon on the bottom and then over the top I stuck a lovely natural coloured ribbon with printed words on it.  I couldn't work out how best to lay my frame so that more words were possible ... 'imagine' was the word I wanted the most so I worked around that.

To finish off I stuck some little clear dot things from Kaisercraft on the centre of the flowers ... fiddly little things!

Quite happy with the look of this card :)

Isn't he just the cutest little donkey!
Quite happy with the frame ... not to fancy ... the donkey is the star :)

I would like to enter this card in the following challenges:-

A card for Make It Crafty & Copic Oz Challenges

Yippeee my daughter has had another long nap!  So I mangaed to get this one done!

This lovely girl is a digi stamp from Make It Crafty ... isn't she just lovely.  I love the hair!  Copic Oz are doing a 'Its' All About The Hair' challenge and I thought she would just be the perfect entry ... all those curls!

I must admit this hair took quite a while .. but was so worth it in the end as it just makes her so happy and healthy looking (I think anyway).

Well I must get this done as my daughter will wake up any moment!

I'm entering this card in Copic Oz - Its All About The Hair & Make It Craft - Category Five.

I used the following copics :-
B00, B02, B05 for pants
Y17, Y28 & E53 for dress
E00, E00, E02 for skin
E21, E35, E37, E29 for hair

Rest of the card is made up from bits and pieces in my stash .... (dwindling quite a lot now because of all these challenges which is terrific as it means I can go shopping to buy more!)

Enjoy :)

Make It Crafty & Mad For Makers Challnge

Good afternoon :)  Wow the world of digi stamps and card making is so addictive!  Everywhere I look I find images that I really really want!  But I'm trying to be very selective  .... and I just love the Aussie sites as it makes me really proud that we are a talented lot :)

This card I would like to enter into
Mad For Markers Monthly Challenge - Sketch
Make It Crafty - Category 1

Its a fairly plain card with clean lines and minimal bits and pieces but thats what I like.  I really like to make the image the 'star' ... and of course I don't have a lot of bits and pieces to add so I've got to get some and then learn how to put it all together.

So here is my card using a lovely FREEBIE (yep thats right FREE) from Make It Crafty online store.
I have coloured these gorgeous young lads in copic markers .... just a couple of greens and reds and the usual skin colours.

My base card is just white cardstock, a bit of red corrugated card, some silver shimmery card and a Christmas sticker over the top ... in the corner I have popped some of those rub ons from Kaiser craft.  I cut my oval shape from a bright green bazzill ... I thought the bright green showed the cheekiness and fun of these little elves.  Around the edge of my white oval I ran a red ink pad around the side ... just to tie it all in.

Thanks for checking out my card ... and make sure you head over to Mad For Markers and Make It Crafty for some gorgeous stamps, accessories and fun :)

I added some 'shading' down the bottom of the elves ... first time I have done this ....I used BV31.  It's probably not a correct shadow ... but it does add a little something.  So will have to start doing it more.

Tiddly Inks Samples Show Off Challenge & Copic Oz - It's All About The Hair

Hello again ... yep I'm back with another card tonight ... well it's actually an extension on my tag using a Tiddly Ink Steampunk image called Precious (see previous post).  I sat here looking at this tag and thought to myself that it would make an awesome card!

I am going to add this card to the Copic Oz - It's All About The Hair Challenge ... they just recently did a video about colouring hair ... and believe me its well worth waching.  I have totally amazed myself though ... as I was already colouring my hair like this!  Wow ... I've been just practising .. not watching you tube or anything (our computer is way to slow for that) and I can't believe I was actually doing something right!

But my main entry is for ..........
Over at the Tiddly Inks challenge blog there is a challenge using the new Steampunk release.  I have linked up my previous mermaid card as she was from this release but I thought I would enter this one also.  Anything goes for this challenge .. no set colours or theme ... just the use of a Steampunk image.

So I used my previous tag and added some little cogs and then mounted it on some lovely cream bazzill.   I didn't want to use real ribbon or lace as it just looked to busy ... so I stamped a stamp from a Kaisercraft set I have and then coloured it with copics.  It's only a short stamp so I had to hide the join .... hence that is how the little tag frame made it on the card.

There just seemed to be something missing ... something to tie it all together ... so I tried some little brads ... couldn't quite get the right style happening and then digging further into my little stash jar of brads I found these!  At first I only found 1 .... panic panic panic as I wanted 3!  but I could only find 2 matching ones ... but I think it looks balanced.

So here is the finished card .... (I will probably be up for a while now its already after 10pm but my Husband just came into my little craft corner and plonked a whole heap of chocolate in front of me ... and what do you know it jumped right into my mouth ... so sugar rush!)

Tiddly Inks Challenge #59 - Tag or Ticket

Good evening :)

I love the gorgeous new Steampunk images from Tiddly Inks and have already created a card using the lovely mermaid stamp (see an earlier post) and now I have coloured this absolutely stunning young lady named Precious.

I had so much fun colouring her with my copics and am really happy with how my colouring is progressing.

The colours I used ... G85, G94, G99 for the green areas and then for the cream I used E50, 51, 53.  For the hat I used C3, 5 and C7 and to be honest I can't remember what I used for her hair as I just kept fiddling until I was happy with it.

I created a fairly large tag and have kept it very simple as I did not want to take the eye away from this gorgeous image.

Thankyou for checking out my tag :)

the completed tag ... forgot to mention the little key I attached .. not sure why ... just thought it looked nice as the colours matched and I have been saving it for something special .... so here it is.
Just a closer shot of the gorgeous Precious.
Just wanted to show off my shading here as I'm getting much better and am so proud of it .... wanted to see what you thought too :)

Digi Darla - Green and Clean Challenge

Hello once again ... wow three times in one day .... and on a day when the creative juices just are not flowing!

I grabbed this image from Digi Darla's site ... you can get freebies too .. just sign up to her newsletter!

The idea was to use green and keep simple clean lines ... well that is my type of card!  Not the green part as I would much prefer purple ... he he he .. but simple and clean! Hey that suits my cards perfectly!

This little image took no time at all to colour .. but it was still a challenge as even though I have lots of green copics I don't really have them close in number to be able to blend.  I think it has turned out quite nice though.

I love the patterned paper I have used ... Its from a pack of cardstock that my Husband got me for Christmas from Big W (here in Australia).  And as you can see the rest of the card is just made up from a piece of lovely dark green cardstock, a strip of ribbon and a mat for my image in a green bazzill.  I used a Carl punch on the corners to give it a bit of elegance .....

I have an Aunt who loves green ... she even has green streaks in her hair, and I don't think I have ever seen her without green clothes, shoes and jewellery!  So no guesses as to where this card will be heading.

Ok well here it is ... and that's it for me tonight ...... happy crafting and blogging.

All That Scraps Blog - Wednesdays Challenge

Good evening :)  Another quick card tonight .. I think I have run out of ideas today ....

I have been playing around for nearly two hours ... with layouts etc .. and just couldn't get anything I was happy with.  I have limited papers so sometimes its hard to get an idea that is in your head to work ... but here is my little card,  Its a cute little Christmas stocking that I cut out about 13cm x 13cm so a nice size.

I'm really happy with the colouring of my gorgeous little CC designs Swiss Pixies Brigitta.  She is a lovely image to stamp.  I have coloured her using copics and then added some christmas ribbon sticker and a rub on (first time I have ever used one!)  Its a bit plain ... but thats all my brain can come up with tonight :)

I hope you like my little creation ... thanks for checking it out :)

Dustin Pike Blog (Doodle Dragon Studios) Challenge - Animals Rule

Very very quick post and super quick card!

Gotta get this in as I only saw it on Dustin's blog a little while ago and it ends within the hour!

Quickly coloured in this gorgeous dragon from Dustin Pike's bog, it was a freebie some time ago.  I just LOVE dragons! and I love the colour purple sooo voila.  Visit Dustin's store Doodle Dragon Studios for some absolutely gorgeous images!

I coloured this little fellow in copics V12, 15, 17 and BG13, 15, 18.  I added crystal ice icestickles to scales, horns and belly and then coloured the little chick with Y00, 02, 06.  I added some extra little chicks down the bottom corner of the card ... they are just so cute.

A kaisercraft flower, and my last doily (sorry about the bent side .... but didn't have any more) and done.
So very quick!  But gotta get it in ... soooooooooo bye for now ...

Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - Heavy Metal with Brads or Eyelets

Good evening :)

This is my entry for the latest challenge at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.  This challenge is for Heavy Metal with Brads or Eyelets.

My daughter slept for two and a half hours this afternoon!  So it gave me time to create this card.
I'm really happy with this card the lovely shiny cardstock just pops!  The side where I have the brads is actually excess card that I was going to trim off ... but hadn't got to yet ... and at the end of the card I realised I needed somewhere to put brads .... bingo!  perfect spot :)  And I thought the stars added a nice Christmas touch.  So this piece is actually the bottom of the card ... hard to tell in the picture (I'll include a picture down further).

My sweet little Bugaboo girl coloured ... very happy with the colouring :)
At this point I was still not exactly sure what I was going to do for the final layout ... nothing is stuck down yet.  You can see the extra white on the base that I ended up sticking the brads into.

I used a piece of shimmery pewter coloured cardstock under the image, then some shiny silver, then shiny gold, then corrugated silver on top of shiny red ... then sutck it all on a white base card.  I put the little circle paperclip on the corner with some ribbon as it just needed that little something extra ... and also its a little bit more metal.

Thanks for checking out my latest creation.  Hopefully I'll be back tonight with something else :)
Until next time ... happy blogging.

A gorgeous Christmas card .... I'm entering in two challenges

Woo Hooo!  I'm so happy with this card!  Ooops Hello there ..... but woo hoo!  I'm so happy with this creation!  My daughter is having a nap and I whipped it up in not time at all!

I have used this gorgoues Bugaboo stamp FREEBIE isn't he just adorable!  I have coloured him in the following copics:-
R17, 27, 29
G02, 05, 07
C000, 03, 05, 07
Y08, 17

The first challenge was 3 patterned papers, 3 embellishments and 1 border and is for Stampin With Dragon.  I have used 3 different papers .. I think they are all Kaisercraft but not sure as they are offcuts from my stash.  I have used 3 lovely little red brads on the holly as my 3 embellishments and the border is a Merry Christmas Strip .....  Its not to busy and I am sooooo happy with it!

The second challenge is for Catch The Bug Challenge Blog - anything goes Christmas style and as it states .. anything goes.

Thanks for checking out my creation.  My daugher has just woken up so better go!  Thanks for popping over :)

Meljens Design Challenge #68 - Bow, Brad, Circle

Hello once again... just going to be a very quick post as I have spent ALL NIGHT on this card!  Its way past my bedtime!

I coloured this absolutely gorgeous Meljen's Donkey ... super quick ... these images are delightful to colour.  I used the following Copics :-
C00, C01, C03
BV000, BV00

and then it all went downhill from there .... couldn't put my card together!  I played and I played and I played with layouts ... but didn't like any of them .... so finally this is the end result.  Not what I was aiming for ..... but I HAVE TO GO TO BED!

It is hard to see in this photo ... but in the flowers up the top I have put some 'bling' in the centre of each just to add a bit of sparkle.
I used two circles .. the purple sparkly one is actually a hollow circle as that was the look I wanted .. but it just didn't look right no matter where I put it ... so in the end I had this pink circle left over from another card ... so I popped it in the middle.  Not sure about the colour .. but it does tie it in with the dragonfly I guess.  The pink circle has been embossed through the cuttlebug.

Brads aren't something I have a lot of ... but I did find this cute little dragonfly in my collection so on he went.
One thing I am thrilled about is my colouring of this little guy!

Ok so it wasn't that short a post ..... goodnight ... sleep tight and I hope to see you back here tomorrow.

Tickled Pink Challenge #29 - Spots & Stripes

Hi there :)

Well I'm very excited ... as I won the Tickled Pink Stamps new release Blog Hop the other week ... yep that's right all of the 6 new stamps!  I was overjoyed as I absolutely adore Tickled Pink Stamps.

So here is my first creation with Lil Lilith  I started colouring her last night and finished her this afternoon.  She is coloured in the following Copics:-
Purples - V91,93,95
Grey/Silver - C00, 01
Hair - E31, 35, 37, 29
Face - E000, 00, 02
Skulls - E50, 51
Eyes - BV000
I have used a charcoal spica pen for the umbrella handle and her shoes and a clear spica on her eyelids.

The paper is Wendy Irving Purplecraze 2 and on the spots I have added some glossy accents to add dimension.  I have used Purple Bazzill Bling under the image and the little spots & stripes brads are from Kaiser craft.

I hope you enjoy this card as much as I enjoyed colouring it!  I can't wait to colour my other 5 new images (oooohhhh I'm a lucky girl to have won!).  I love them all!

Enjoy creating your own fabulous cards ... looking forward to checking out what you have been doing, on your blog :)

just deciding what colours here ... always a bit daunting.
my finished image .... quite happy with this, even her hair turned out nice.
ta da .. the finished card.  This always takes me the longest as I don't have many matching papers, embellishments etc and really struggle to know how to put it all together.

Tiddly Inks Challenge - Nature Movie #58

I hope the day has treated you well :)

This is my entry for my second Tiddly Inks challenge.  I purchased some absolutely gorgeous stamps last night from their store ... so in love with these images!

I'm only supposed to purchase 2 digis a month ... he he he .... I think I am well and truly over that quota.  It was an agreement I came to with my Husband ... and he's a bit annoyed with me that I didn't honour it ... but it is my Birthday next month so I suggested it was my Birthday gift and he's happy with that as now he doesn't have to go shopping.

This image is one of the ones that I purchased .. she came in a set of five.  She made me think of the movie Splash!  I loved that movie as a girl and always secretly wished that I was a mermaid.  So this gorgeous little mermaid brought back some lovely memories and inspired my card.  I think that a mermaid qualifies for Movies with Nature in them ... after all she lives in the ocean with all the other wonderful creatures.

Well enough waffling from me .... I'm really pleased with how this card turned out.  Coloured the gorgeous image with the following copics :-
Skin - E000, 00, 02
Hair Y21, Y28 + YR23 and then added some gold spica pen for highlights (hard to see in the picture)
Tail - R000, 00, 02 and then went over the top with gold icestickles
Water - BG000, 01

The ribbon is a lovely Stampin Up ribbon as is the lovely paper, from my blog friend Shirley.  I embossed the blue card with the cuttlebug and then added some little Droplets from Kaiserscrapbook.

Thankyou for enjoying my card :)

Copic Challenges

Good evening.  This will be my first card that I have entered into two challenges.  Not sure exactly how to do it .... so I hope its correct :)

The first Challenge is Copic Oz #12 - Embellish This.  I have coloured my embellishments to match my paper using Copics.  I coloured in some cream coloured star brads (not easy to get into those corners), a piece of white ribbon (voila its now blue) and I made my own background paper for my Happy Birthday sentiment.  I made the paper by using 4 different coloured copics and ruling lines .. its hard to see in the pictures but in real life it blends in quite nicely.  I used a blue spica pen to trace over the stamped writing .. just for a bit of sparkle.

The second challenge is iCopic Weekly Challenge #39 - Pastels.  I found this quite difficult because I have not mastered blending as yet ... so I have to keep adding more colour .. and of course this makes my image darker.  But I would still call it pastel shades.

Challenges I am entering this card in are:-

Oh wow!  I think I just learnt how to add a link!  I'm very pleased with myself now .. managed to create a card to enter into two challenges and learnt something new ....... patting myself on the back :)

Thankyou to all the beautiful comments for previous blog entries ... it really encourages me.  And thankyou to those who wished my gorgeous Daughter a Happy Birthday and a Get Well Soon, it must of helped as today she was much better :)

Pollycraft Monday Challenge #102 - Summer Fun

Why does there never seem to be enough hours for crafting?  I'm not going to have long today so I've whipped up a quick entry for this challenge.  Even though it is small and quick I'm delighted with it.  The colours are pretty and I'm happy with the overall effect.

Going to use this for my friend's Get Well gift.

I have used a gorgeous little Pollycraft digi stamp and coloured it with copics.  The rest of the tag is just bits and pieces I have in my craft draw.  I'm only new to all of this so as I start to build up my stash of embellishments and papers I can start to list the materials I use.

Thankyou for checking out my little tag :)
