Make It Crafty - #28 Colouring Dark Skin Challenge

Good evening .... well our internet has run out again ... so at the wonderful truly slower than slow slower than dial up speed ... sloooooowwwwwwwwwww :(

It makes it terribly hard to put anything on my blog ... let alone check anyone else's out ... so sad!

I have recently discovered Make It Crafty .... you should head over there ... gorgeous stamps!

The challenge this week is colouring dark skin .... well I didn't know where to start and as I said can't really go looking for info with this super slow internet so I decided to wing it (pardon the pun).  If you are a follower of my blog you will know that I'm only new to colouring .. and to be honest I don't even think I have worked out how to colour light skin so this was a big challenge.

So I will show you my images and then tell you what I used.

I love this stamp!  She is a brand new one for me .... purchased my first digis from Make It Crafty just the other day ... and this is the first one I have coloured her name is Vixie (what a great name).
The first image I coloured was the red one.  I did the skin first .. I usually leave it until last.  I used a base of E21 then highlighted with E11 & E33 and R02.  I was happy with the colours straight away!
I could see from my Hand Colour Chart that I keep that I wasn't really going to have any other darker colours in the E family that were going to blend well for skin ... I must get some more!

I even managed to keep the eyelids lighter ... nope it was no accident!  I tried really hard to do that as I thought it was important.

I was a bit messy with my colouring though .. I always find that red goes out the lines (must be because it goes faster) so I cut this image out and then I wanted to see if I could do it again so I did the blue haired Vixie ... much neater colouring and once again I really like the skin!
Copics used for red haired Vixie :-
Skin - E11, E21, E33 and R02 for cheeks
Dress & Hair - R32, R35, R37
Wings - B00, B02, B05 & Y02, Y06, Y08
I used a clear spica (glitter) pen on the wings although I don't think it needed it.
To be honest the image looks much better in real life.  I'm totally happy with the shading i got on her wings ... they really pop out!
I used all the same colours for this image as what is listed above .. just in different places. I didn't put spica pen on these wings as I was happy with the way they were ... they look amazing in real life.

I'm not going to make them into a card ... these are going in a scrapbook (which I have not yet started) of my daughter.

I think this is probably my best colouring to date ......  its so nice to be happy with something.

Enjoy checking out the other great entries .. It has taken me 1 hour to get these photos onto the page (stupid internet!) so thats it from me tonight.

Happy crafting .. and thankyou for your lovely comments.
